Vee’s pronouns are They/Them

Vee uses play therapy to support children and teens on their journey to authenticity and self-acceptance.

After serving in AmeriCorps and teaching abroad, Vee moved to Richmond to earn their Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. For nearly a decade, Vee worked statewide to advocate for equality for LGBTQ+ Virginians. Feeling strongly about the mental health disparities faced by queer and trans young people, they made a career shift.

Since then, Vee’s professional training and experience has been focused on supporting LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent children and teens who are navigating challenges related to anxiety, depression, social and/or sensory differences, disordered eating, and minority stress.

Vee believes that, at any age, play therapy can allow clients to understand their unique self in ways that often feel safer and more accessible than traditional talk therapy. Their creative, adaptive approach allows clients to engage in the therapeutic process at their own pace, and sessions may include: art, games, sand tray, movement, and sensory experiences. They also enjoy sharing resources and supporting caregivers of clients who are interested in deepening their own learning.

As a resident therapist, Vee provides individual counseling services under the clinical supervision of Mary Beth Murrary, LCSW, RPT-S. Vee is designated as a Supervisee in Social Work by the Virginia Department of Health Professions, and is working towards LCSW licensure and Registered Play Therapy (RPT) certification.
