Bethany’s pronouns are: She/Her

Bethany helps teens and adults regulate their emotions, engage in healthy relationships, and deepen the connection with their inner-self.

Bethany Anderson is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Lynchburg.

Bethany enjoys working alongside teens and adults who are learning to set healthy boundaries in their relationships and managing overwhelming emotions like worry, anxiety, grief, and depression. She feels honored to be invited into her clients’ journey of processing traumatic events, learning to understand their past experiences, and discovering a new, more free sense of self.

Bethany is specifically passionate about Inner-Child Work, which focuses on relational, emotional, and physical safety, and tapping into childhood memories in order to strengthen a client’s relationship with their inner self. This work can increase autonomy and self-love. She also helps clients develop a healthy body image self-esteem in a world bombarded by diet culture and impossible standards. Bethany has experience working with clients with substance use difficulties as well as supporting impacted family members. She considers herself a lifelong learner in regards to new strategies and approaches to best fit her clients’ needs.

Bethany uses a person-centered approach by letting her clients lead the way, and support them with empathy and encouragement. She also loves introducing clients to mindfulness and stress reduction techniques, including tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Bethany meets with clients in-person at our Richmond-based counseling practice. She also provides online counseling for clients who are located across Virginia.
