Josh Brooks, LPC
Josh Brooks grew up outside Charlotte, North Carolina. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Psychology and then his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. During his residency, Josh worked with children, adults, families and couples. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a very varied skill set.
After moving to Richmond, Josh followed his passion of working with children and adults who struggle with intense emotions.
Josh has over 10 years of experience in counseling a wide variety of clients from preschool age children through elderly adults. He is skilled at helping adults process difficult experiences and reaching their goals. He also has experience counseling both adults and adolescents with substance use difficulties.
Josh specializes in helping children and adolescents with anger issues express themselves in a more positive, healthy way. He excels at building relationships with children and adolescents who are not interested in participating in counseling. Parents are often surprised at how their child goes from refusing to attend meetings to being excited about them. Josh also works with children’s parents and their families to work on how to best support their loved one during their time in counseling.
Josh works closely with clients who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. He follows the WPATH Standards of care, helping children and adults reach their full potential.
